Roy H.
Valentine (1884-1955)
New Castle High
School
- Arrived at New Castle
from Hartford City
- Principal (1921-1938)
- Superintendent
(1938-1944)
- Died January 2, 1955,
age 70.
From the 1926 Rosennial:
"Mr. Valentine has been
in the school since 1921. Many pupils have come in personal
contact with Principal Roy Valentine and have fully sensed and
marveled at his splendid judicial manner when earnestly trying
to solve one of his innumerable problems to the best ends for
the school. They can only to a minimum extent realize his many
perplexities of administration."
From the 1930 Rosennial:
"Everybody knows and
likes our principal, Mr. R. H. Valentine. The school couldn't
get along without Mr. Valentine. In his capable hands is
placed the administration of the high school. For this work,
it is necessary to have one who is striving for the best
results.
Only those who have
worked with him can understand the tremendous effort he puts
forth to carry out his duties as principal of New Castle High
School. His fairness and consideration for everyone around in
the students a feeling of loyalty to him.
The administration of
high school affairs could not be more ably handled than it is
now under the direction of Mr. Valentine."
From the 1938 Rosennial:
"In nineteen hundred
twenty-one an earnest young man assumed the duties of principal of
Newcastle High School. Down through the years his patience and
wisdom have made him a true friend to all. He, together with the
cooperation of the deans, has been able to guide many students
through their four years of high school, and out into the world..."
